Insurance FAQ’s
How does the insurance process work for getting a breast pump?
Insurances require us to send you the breast pump before we can submit the claim into them. Once we ship you the breast pump, we then bill your insurance. It usually takes insurances 2-4 weeks to process the claim.
Why did I get a bill from my insurance?
Your insurance will not bill you for the breast pump. What you are most likely receiving is an Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
My insurance says they will cover a breast pump at 100%, why do I still have a cost?
Insurances will only cover a standard electric breast pump. You are most likely ordering an upgraded breast pump if you have any additional costs.
What is the difference between a standard breast pump and an upgraded breast pump?
A standard breast pump has basic features that meet the medical requirements to express milk. An upgraded breast pump goes above and beyond that with additional features such as a battery or hands-free option.
What is an upgrade charge?
An upgrade charge is the difference between what your insurance covers for a standard electric breast pump and the upgraded breast pumps that are available.
Will my insurance cover the upgrade charge?
No, the upgrade charge is the portion that goes above and beyond what is considered medically necessary. This is an out of pocket cost.
What if I do not want to pay an upgrade charge?
With our wide range of breast pumps, we have plenty of breast pump options that do not have an upgrade charge.
I have two insurances, can I get a second pump?
Insurance requires that we bill your primary insurance first. Since we can only bill an insurance once per pregnancy for a breast pump, we would not be able to bill a second pump through insurance.
What do I do if my insurance does not cover a breast pump?
We offer discounts on some breast pumps purchased at retail. Fill out our Fast Track Form and one of our reps can help.
What is a deductible or co-insurance?
Deductibles and co-insurances are part of your cost share for certain items covered through insurance. Contact your insurance to see if they apply for your breast pump.
My friend paid a different amount for the same breast pump, why is that?
This is due to different insurance plans having different allowable amounts. This means that the upgrade charges vary based on the insurance plan that you have.
I recently changed my last name, but my insurance does not have it updated.
This can cause issues with insurance and delays. We strongly recommend reaching out to your insurance to update your information with them.
What is the date of service?
This is the date that is submitted on the claim into your insurance. This is the date that your pump shipped out.
